The aim of this project was to design an installation that would alter the perception of a space. The only constraint was that there would be drawing involved in the process.

I chose to make paper surveillance cameras, and install them in our classroom.
Spring 2013

THIS CLASSROOM IS BEING MONITORED FOR ADMINISTRATIVE PURPOSES. PLEASE BEHAVE NORMALLY.

The sign was hand-drawn and the cameras very simplified, to further expose the installation as an installation. However, nobody paid mind to the sign, and no one even noticed the cameras until I pointed them out when presenting.

What would it mean for an educational institution to monitor its students this way?
And why is this somehow so easy to imagine (and subsequently, acclimate to)?
